Weird Egg Mucus

I have 5 chickens, and they're 9 months old. Two are laying (a third might just be starting). When I went to collect eggs today I found what looked like a mucus ball in the nesting box. I'm not sure what it is and am wondering if one of my chickens is sick, and if so what I can do about it.

If those chips are cedar chips, get rid of them.. Only use pine or straw, or hay as bedding.

That just looks like an egg yolk...Unformed egg....If your not providing Oyster shell? Pick some up...

And stay away from Cedar Chips....
