Weird egg?!

So I was cracking some of my eggs that my (King/button) quail laid and there was this!

Sorry if that’s a bad photo but it’s black goop with a white splondge. I don’t really know how else to describe it. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Is it possible that you missed that egg and it was in there for a long time? Does the bird that laid it seem healthy?

Not sure if it's true but I would consider it on par with being caused by Salpingitis or other internal infection..

The egg has probably been in there for a week or two, not sure if that’s old. Every other egg she’s laid isn’t like that though and she is perfectly healthy. I had some that I knew were older and they weren’t like that. So... I’m not sure.

She’s perfectly healthy and not showing any signs of sickness. This was a while ago. So...

Edit: actually I went back to it and it does smell a bit.

It doesn't look like lash egg to me since it had a perfectly normal shell. I would guess that there was a small crack in the egg that let bacteria in and it rotted, but I'm not an expert.
