So today is a terrible day. When I went out the 3 RHRs were in the coop and my poor red sex link (I call her "Pinky") was sitting outside all puffed up. The rogue RIR (I can't tell you what I call her!) was at the coop door, not allowing Pinky to go inside! So, I fed them last night's leftovers (pilaf, french cut green beens and mahi) and they all came a'runnin'. Pinky has no lack of appetite, but the big bully kept pecking her and not allowing her to eat. I chased the scoundrel away and let Pinky have at it first.

This darned RHR is so obnoxious I've decided I need to get rid of her. I've posted about her before. She thinks she's a rooster. . .stands at the door of the coop and makes that noise hens make when they've laid an egg. . .VERY LOUD AND OVER AND OVER starting at about 4 am! But for the time being, I've isolated the Pinky. She's in the garden shed in a 3X4 cage. She's miserable because she loves the company of other birds. I would have isolated the rogue, but first I'd have to catch her! Besides, maybe Pinky will have a chance to fatten up a little and regrow the feathers that have been bitten off.

I'm going to ask my friend if he'll trade with me for the RIR. If not, he can have her. I don't have the heart to kill anything, but I don't mind if he puts her in the stew pot. She is just so totally obnoxious!

It sounds like you are making the right decision. It is hard getting rid of animals but sometimes it is best. Pinky will thank you in the long run.
