Hello,

My hens just started laying. This morning when I let them out to free range, about an hour later I noticed a weird egg.

Is this a freak, a dietary issue or anything else?

My birds did have a stressfull day yesterday, they saw one of my silkies get eaten by a hawk then I put them on lockdown for a few hours during the day.

I can't see the pic for whatever reason, but with my flocks it's normal for the young first time layers to lay odd/abnormal shaped, sized and shelled eggs for a while until their egg developing egg production "plumbing" gets all in sync and starts producing normal eggs. As I mentioned before, it's a good idea to have them on a layer feed with free choice to oyster shell...
