Soo, we have 2 ducks (both females, both non-stable layers). For months they hadn't laid anything at all. Last week they started producing again~ YAY!
Well last night the DH went to gather and one of the girls was sitting on the biiiigest egg I've ever seen (smaller than an ostrich, but bigger than both of my fists put together!). It had that weird jello like film that I've seen several times with a first time layer, but, there was a hard egg inside the jello-like layer. First time I've seen anything like that!

Any idea here ladies?? Thanks!

My guess is the normal (?) egg went back up for a second coating, but only got the membrane. I know this happens with chickens from time to time, when they start or re-start laying.

I'll post one tonight when I get home. I meant to take one this morning... got to playing with the animals and totally forgot... The story of my life!
