This is Daffodil she is 2 months old. I got her as an ameraucana but I’ve been told she seems more of an Easter Egger, and at this point I’m not sure if she is even a she. Regardless this growth has been apparent since her adult feathers have been coming in and I initially thought it was a pin feather and she was going to have feathered feet but alas, no feathers. Any ideas?

My guess is its a feather follicle caused by a recessive gene for feathered feet. You may be able to clip it off, but be prepared with a little corn starch or sugar to stop the bleeding if it turns out to have a blood supply. If there is blood upon clipping it, that may mean it will grow back and you will need to clip it again at some point.

Thank you! If it impedes her walking or begins to snag on things I’ll be sure to clip it and have stuff on stand by in case of bleeding

Is the white part hard or soft?
What the thicker but shorter part growing under the longer white part(ETA: looks like it could be an errant toe nail)?

The white part is hard like a toe nail, as for the thicker part under it, I have no idea, I will have to inspect her foot more closely
