Weird hen behavior

It's not necessarily "the big E day" - its just more "laying behavior," as in normal for a layer. Some hens toss straw and leaves or shavings onto their backs at various times in their lives. Some never do it.

But the original post is definitely describing laying behavior. Pre, during, post, or even never, as some never squat for people and some never sing The Egg Song.

Helpful, huh? Sorry. But I wouldn't be worried about your pullet's behavior. :)
 
Wow...I guess there's no right or wrong answer...I learn so much from BYC its all exciting but in noticed that a lot of experts disagree about stuff...I'm a newbie too. And I guess ill wait and see what happens...so don't let people discourage the signs that they are c
 
Close to laying...just let her be excited cause its fun....let us know when you have egg news

I still have 3 hens-a-squatting and one singing the egg song. They've been trying out the nest, but NO EGGS. Hubby says they're never going to lay. He said he was tempted to buy a dozen brown eggs and put a few in the nest every day to get my daughter to stop obsessing over the first egg.

Lol...are you feeding them the crushed oyster shells?..well I only have two laying...I put some old Easter eggs in the laying box...and it just happened.
