Weird Human/Chicken behavior- confession.

I periodically sing opera to the dogs. Makes them nuts!

I have long conversations with my chickens (again, thankfully the neighbors are too far away to see!). I find that my OEGB is the chattiest. I swear she gives me an update on how the day went each evening. "Well, first we all had some scratch. That polish over there hogged all the millet seed, but the blue silkie pooped on her head so it's okay. Then we all wallowed in the dirt for a while, following by a brief panic attack when the post man appeared, followed by some singing when the eggs all started popping out. You wouldn't believe what Dorito the BO laid today..." and so it goes.

Mine are very chatty.

Sounds like we are all a bunch of Dr. Dolittles in the making!! I don't know much "chicken" yet and my roo doesn't know much English, but we get on just fine in our little talks......Wonder if I can take a crash CSL (Chicken as a Second Language) course?????

We crow at our boys all the time! And try to make the treat noice when we feed them.

I used to sing to my chickens, and thought they loved it. Then one night I was crying and got the same response. Turns out they were trying to comfort me when I was singing to them. So now we just chat in a normal voice instead.

Even sadder is that my favorite cat does the same thing

Guess she doesn't like my singing voice, either. She also comforts me when I'm laughing, not just for crying.

The evening bats, however, seem to love it when I sing the bat song to them. They don't dive bomb or mess with me, just do lazy swoops around me! Guess I have a voice only a bat can love

Well, I talk to all my animals like they can understand everything I'm saying... I'm actually pretty sure one of our dogs can understand us! Any way... Yeah, talking to your chickies in english or "chicken-eze", probably looks crazy to others, but we all know better! Is there a chicken whiperers anonymous?

Who is it? Terrilacey that sings "Bad Ducks" to her flock...? LOL So funny.

Weird human-animal behavior is swatting flies off the horses with a fly flap. I had some folks drive down the dirtroad once while I was doing this and I wondered if they thought I was abusing her LOL I had to look funny swatting horses with a fly swatter!

We have a ferret and his name is Toochie and we say he is French so we talk French baby talk to him and that probably sounds the craziest.

Oh, I'm not actually singing REAL opera. I just sing everything opera style to them. Sadly they are not big fans of the arts. Our other favorite make-the-dogs crazy game is "Little Timmy's in the well?!!!". Works every time.
