Weird lump found with organs when butchering

We butchered our roosters today. They decided they were going to be mean, and with 2 littles and occasional house sitters, it was just a no to keep them.

When we were pulling (we as in my husband ) out the internal organs, there was this large pretty hard thing mixed with the organs. I know my general anatomy, and I could not figure out what this was.

Here’s a photo, it’s the mostly bluish round thing (2-3” across) the bottom left -

Has anyone seen this before? Anyone know what it is?

I'd say it's the crop. Did you fast them before butchering?

That looks like the gizzard.

Okay I feel like an idiot. It’s the gizzard. I should really google first back to some more coffee!!

Yes, Gizzard. If you open it up you'll likely find some stones (grit), and feed.

And if you peal off the yellow lining and wash it up, you can fry them and they are amazing...
