Hey there, my 6-7 month old hen is exhibiting some unusual-for-her symptoms. She has not left the coop all day and has just been sitting on the roosting bar in and out of sleep. She will eat oatmeal from my hand and is still her fussy self but it’s very strange for her not to come outside and she has weird yellow/white/green droppings. I was thinking there might be an egg bound issue but not sure. Anyone experience this before?

She might have an ecoli infection. I recommend giving her plain boiled white rice mixed with buttermilk to eat for a couple of days. The rice will settle her innards and the buttermilk is an excellent probiotic to help with good gut bacteria. It will coat her digestive tract and helps to prevent damage by coccidia. It should also clear up her feces back to normal. Do not give her yogurt, it tends to run out the rear end.

thank you for the suggestion. She doesn’t seem interested much in eating this so I might try to use a dropper to get buttermilk in her system
