We just seem to be having sickness after sickness here and I'm struggling. We had one pass from something somewhat similar a few months ago, but never figured it out. This girl has watery poop with thin strands of firmer stuff in it (the color is because she had a couple blueberries this morning). We've had her inside for a week with not much change, but not worse. We have given her some doses of metoclopramide from another one of our girls that was having crop issues, along with electrolytes and probiotics. She acts fine if she's inside, but turns really lethargic out in the cold (Ohio) . She is still eating and drinking. We did give one calcium tablet as she hasn't laid in a couple weeks weeks, but isn't acting egg bound. We do have 2 that have had a respiratory infection, on antibiotics from the vet, but she has zero respiratory signs. We've been to the vet once a month lately, and it's EXPENSIVE. 😖 Any suggestions?

I am sorry that you and your hens going through so much. :hugs

It is best you separate the respiratory hens from other if you could.

More information can help workout what is wrong with your hen there, she is a beauty, her eyes are bright looking so that is a good sign.

How old is your hen?
Is she having crop issue? Might be try to massage it gently a few times a day.
Does she eat normal or just little? That little poops is looking like she has not been eating much.
Drinking much water?

Wishing your flock quick recovery❤️

She was eating well until we put her back outside, now she hasn't been eating as much. She wants and eats a lot of snacks if offered though and is mostly in good spirits. Her crop did seem a little weird for a few days, so that's why we've been doing the metoclopramide and probiotics, but it has been empty each morning and doesn't smell. We unfortunately had to put the one sick one and her together because we only have so much space when it's cold out. (the other URI girl is fully recovered). 😞

Guessing...perhaps the cold weather causing her current issue.
If possible keep her inside.

What her crop feels like when it seems weird?
If she does not have crop issue like impacted crop/sour crop, do not give her medication.

I would give her some warm corns, that give her some energy. If you have some sardine/egg you to offer her.

When my chickens are cold in winter, I give them a bit of small pieces of ginger/turmeric individually as they will not eat it themselves. This warm up their system.

I noticed that observation and physical inspection help with diagnoses.

Ii would keep her with her flock for comfort as long as she is not being bullied. Chicken feed with a little warm water and some scrambled bits of egg would be good to offer. Respiratory diseases can affect laying. Reproductive disorders can cause slow emptying of the crop and digestive tract. Probiotics can be helpful.

I think I was confusing, the one with the weird poop, does not have any respiratory issues at all. She doesn't get picked on, but she doesn't really eat or drink while outside either, which is why we brought her back inside. We left her out for about 8 hours and by the time we brought her in she was scrunched down and her comb was pale. Should I be giving calcium? We heat and light the coop and she's not molting, but also not laying. Sorry! She's 20 months old.
