I think your right. Thank youI can't really tell anything from your pictures, I'm wondering if you are feeling the wishbone? Just a guess though.
sowill the feather come all the way out when I pull it or is it just going to come to the surface of the skin and stay in like a normal feather?From what I can see in the photos, you may just have an impacted feather that has not come thru the skin properly. If it gives when you manipulate it with your finger, then the feather is still growing and won't be able to get to the surface without assistance. Use a pair of tweezers or needle nose pliers to try to pluck that feather. If you don't remove it, it will continue to grow. You might have to make a small incision in the skin to help remove it.
You can get the feather to come out of the capsule, it will either come all the way out because the root tip has been damaged, or the feather will look a little crumpled but could remain attached by the root. The feather will eventually molt off like any other feather.
