Weird question about egg consumption

We've taken eggs straight from the nest box to the frying pan. They were delicious - and nothing horrible happened to us as a result of eating them so soon after they were laid. LOL!

My very best secret treasure is to hear a hen lay, get the egg and into a pan with a bit of butter and salt. Yum The white will sometimes be cloudy with the air in it and stand so pretty around the yolk. Gloria Jean

just last night i had to explain to a couple of my wife's friends about how there is no need for a rooster. I'm just glad to know that i have the information to back what i say. I have only been doing chickens for about 6 months and can't believe how much i know and still have to learn. i have not heard of the having to leave alone for 24 hours.

:pGetting the right information is one of many things that I like about BYC:rolleyes:If eating Super Fresh Eggs was hazzard to your health there would be alot of people hurting.:(Thanks for the people that are here to help people with the info

DS10 has a friend who is perpetually amazed that our older girls laid eggs consistently for nearly 2 years before missing a day. I questioned him a little and I think he had it in his head that they only lay for one season. He was also surprised that no roo was necessary (I find it amusing that everyone I've ever met that thinks you need a roo to get eggs, is male. I've never met a woman who thought that).

People come up with the silliest thing! I had a friend call me a couple of months back to verify that,"An unfertilized egg has no yolk." She had been arguing it all day with her family and Church friends.

Sadly I had to squash her dreams of proving herself right by calling the chicken expert.

I had a co-worker tell me that she accidentally bought brown eggs in the store and when she cracked them open to cook for breakfast, the yolk was a strange color (bright orange). She said that she threw them away because the yolk was too bright and she thought that the eggs were spoiled. She said that later on she found out that nothing was wrong with the eggs OR yolks.
