Hi friends!

One of my RK Polish has got some weird a** toes. They bend in different directions when it walks. It’s the only one of my Polish that look like this and also it’s beak has a flat spot in the middle of it with wide-set nostrils. Birth defect? Alien? Normal?

Breeding/hatching defects would seem most likely.

From what I understand the wide nostrils are a normal polish thing. The toe thing is not. Is it possible the bird could have hurt its toes some time during early brooding stages? Sometimes it can be genetic as well, that's where I bet my money on. Either way I wouldn't breed that bird. Let's get the Polish expert in here, he might be able to tell us if it's common in the breed @BastyPutt

I noticed it when it was very young in the brooder. Probably within the first week of having it. As far as breeding goes, I have 0 clue on how to avoid a single bird from being bred. I also don’t know my polish’s genders lol I know I for sure have one roo and I THINK the other 4 are hens… think 🤔

I agree with Shadrach. If it's made this far, it'll do fine. Might not be able to scratch the ground efficiently, and might have some trouble mounting (if it's a cockerel), but overall it'll live a seemingly normal-ish life
It acts normal as far as I can tell thankfully 😅
