He grew up really handsome. Love the grey color. And yes he does look Runner -esque
I'll be excited to see if he has offspring.

What does this mean. I hope you don't mean kids are snatching up baby ducks.I saw a small male mallard with a funny looking long bill defending a female and fighting with males. I think it might be little Trouble. Usually, though, I don't usually see males make commitments so young, but maybe he's special. Could be he was defending his sister.
We have a bunch of little babies running around the lake and already kids are wanting to take them. :\
I read a book years ago by E.B. White Louis the Trumpeter Swan. Your tales of Trouble, remind me of that. I am head over heels in love with this story. Thank you for that!!!Look who I think this is! I think it's Trouble as he's got the weird square head and the funny bill. There's another duck that is the same size, but he has black on his bill and this one doesn't. He started quacking and running up to me when he saw me. After I left, he disappeared. Trouble's head feathers look strange. There was a report of a male duck being scalped, but I think I saw that duck later and I think he was bigger than Trouble. That duck was healing up well. I'm betting that Trouble's head feathers are messed up because of his molt.![]()
Look up a book Corvus, a life with Birds. By Esther Woolfson.... I think you would enjoy it. As for Trouble, he seems to be the under duck... And I'm rooting for him!I've read that book, too! Trouble's a funny little guy. Glad he showed up as breeding season has been so bad that the males are hurting each other and he's so small compared to a lot of ducks there.
