Weirdest egg laid ever...... gift wrapped?

Looks like the eggs one of my EE pullets has been laying. Her first egg was like that, wrapped in a slimy membrane. And the second one. She's my worst layer (maybe 1-2 eggs a week), and I'd say almost half of her eggs have been like that. Fortunately the last three have been normal, except for the little extra bumply calcium deposits and thinnish shells. But for a while there I was afraid we'd have to cull her because I was afraid she would become an internal layer or become egg bound.

I had one just like that a week or so ago and didn't think anything of it. The next day - for the first time - I got 11 eggs from 11 chickens.

I got one of those about a month ago, with a a little thin shelled egg "fart" next to it. I couldn't do anything with it, because it was frozen by the time I found it. It was from one of our new layers, an EE hatched last May.

Brown paper packages tied up with string, these are a few of my favorite things... Hey, where is the string?

The hen must have thought it was a worm and ate it.
