Weirdest Things Your Chickens Have Done

I had a mixed breed hen 5 or so years ago that would pretend to be injured, limping and making sounds like she was hurt, so that we would open the door between the yards and let her into the one with the lettuce. I did not know they could fake injuries, but there you go. The limping and moaning would stop immediately after we let her through... which we did, despite the damage to the lettuce, because she was just so cute doing it. I bet she felt great outsmarting us.
Yeah I have a hen that jumps to my shed roof from the floor. She's a tiny little thing, but she knows it annoys me and the only way to coax her down is with treats... so she knows she gets treats when she goes up there. She doesn't do it unless I'm in the run spoiling the new baby chicks, so I think it's a sort of protest and treat attempt. She's a smart chicken too, I've taught her to jump to my arm by tapping it and I carry her around on my shoulder :D

Our Gold laced hen is an absolute menace. All of our chooks are super dog bomb proof, except for new comers still adjusting. They have at least 2 dogs around them at all times. But our gold laced, funnily named Glock, will wait for the dogs to turn their backs & sneak up to attempt to peck them. She isn't aggressive, genuinely think she's turned it into a game. She used to do the same to our barn cats when we had them. She generally fails, but if she ever manages to peck them, she takes off running in the opposite direction. 😂

That is smart! Chickens have ways of outsmarting humans.
I have a Faverolles hen who likes to come inside to dustbathe on the living-room floor tiles. I wonder if she's criticizing my cleaning... It's certainly dustier when she leaves 🤷🏽‍♀️

She is probably thinking that she is cleaning the floor by collecting the dust on herself! :gig

Ruby goes up to my dogs and pecks them on the back, picking off anything they have collected on their fur from outside. Glock is probably doing the same thing, but being cautious about it!

We have 3 hens that made their way over the fence into the garage and found the cat food bowls. Now they roost in the garage and eat with the cats.

Yeah I have heard they can be more aggressive. I prefer my orpingtons, Marans, speckled Sussex and D’Uccles. All sweet birds.
My choice for sweetness and comedy are Silkies. Don't be fooled by their appearance ~ they are smarter than they look. They just look so darn cute when they walk in their slippers feet! And what poofy tails!

One of my black sexlink hens rolled over completely upside down and waved her legs in the air while dustbathing.
Also my old rooster went and sat for like ten minutes in a five gallon bucket that had fallen over.
My silky rooster once got stuck under a 5 gallon bucket for a couple days soaking wet from a past storm, we heard crowing but couldn’t find him
