[Tired old Rooster]

Dewy, my younger rooster, got in one of the new nesting boxes and was scratching around as if he were making himself a bed. I didn't even have these set up yet, just stacked there for a minute till I could get them into place. Silly bird, nesting boxes are for hens!

My previous roo did the same. Probably his one good point. My roo, Galoot probably couldn't get in to a nest and turn around. He might end up stuck and I'd have to pull him out by his legs.

My black sex-link hen has been walking around the coop recently and picking up every feather in the coop and throwing it on her back

I never saw this behavior until recently! My Black Star was sitting on eggs that I wanted and she started trilling while tossing pine shavings on her back. Crazy “momma wanna be”!

Makimg a nest for the girls, my Roo does this all the time! Sometimes the ladies go see what he is doing otjer times they ignore him. Poor fella!

My hens do this all the time. Nesting behaviour, they do it when broody and after laying an egg. Silly girls! No more babies!

This is Dot in a weird zombie chicken trance. If she is picked up and moved to a different place in the yard, she sometimes completely freezes, like her brain just stopped. She will turn her head, but refuses to move an inch, sometimes for a very long time.

One of my black sexlink hens rolled over completely upside down and waved her legs in the air while dustbathing.
Also my old rooster went and sat for like ten minutes in a five gallon bucket that had fallen over.

Hahahaha had a horse roll in the snow and get stuck in the snow all four legs waving in the air….. oh don’t worry she managed to flop around and get up.

I once had a chicken do the same thing! Except it’s unseasonably warm in Ohio right now (40- 50 degrees when last week it was 10- 20 with a wind chill nearly negative) so I ended up with a claw print on my back and a large lock of my hair full of dirt, melted snow, and bird poop…………… thanks Original Prankster. It seems I’ve named you well.
