Yesterday morning, I got my first flock in 5 years. They're my first non-bantam flock. I've always been a chicken person, so I've been waiting for this day since my grandma (whose house they lived at) couldn't take care of them anymore and had to give them away.
I've got 5 chicks. They were sexed, but I'm a bit worried that one is a rooster that slipped through. Only two of them have names so far.
I've got:
a dark Brahma - her feathered legs are killing me with cuteness
a blue laced red Wyandotte - she's so sweet and gentle, loves being held and has fallen asleep in my hands a few times
a Barnevelder - a bit feisty, she's already trying to establish her place at the top of the pecking order! I've had a bantam Barnevelder in the past, so their names will start with the same letter in loving memory of Babette.
Akira, an Olive Egger - she (hopefully not a he!) has seemingly infinite energy, she's always running circles around (and on, she's jumped over and on the others many times) the other chicks. She's always the last one asleep and the first one to wake up. We always complain about chickens waking us up too early, but now the chickens will be complaining about Akira waking them up too early!
Smoke, a Mystic Onyx - soooo curious about everything, loves pecking at the thermometer and always darts over whenever someone else does something interesting. Once, when I was holding her, she discovered my fingernail and was looking at it like it was the most interesting thing ever.

I'm in love already :love

Post pictures! they sound precious ^.^

Here are the long-awaited photos 🥰

Here's a very rare picture of Akira actually being still for once. She's the one that I'm a bit worried is a rooster - she has more comb and feather development than the others and is a bit bigger. Hopefully it's just that she's a bit older.

Here's Smoke, this was taken shortly before she discovered the existence of fingernails

Here is the Barnevelder, now named Beatrix!

Here is the dark Brahma, who has developed SUCH a loud voice! There have been times where I've had to check on the chicks due to loud peeping, but it's just her talking with the others 😂 She's also a bit of a drama queen when she is picked up, but she chills out pretty fast.

And here is the blue laced red Wyandotte. She seems to be a bit younger than the others; she has no comb development and is a bit small. (I'm trying to convince my dad to decide on the name Ahsocluck Tano in honor of Star Wars day!)
