Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I am obsessing over Tiny homes.... But cant do the stairs. or ladders. Technically my house is a one bed one bath about a thousand square feet. Used to be a tin sided mobile home till someone built a house around the core... hence the one foot thick walls. they added a living room and a laundry room. Then there is the green house about half the length of the mobile home... and an Art Studio which I use as my bedroom... have to walk through the Green house room up the stairs to the house through the dining room and kitchen to get to the bathroom. So I go outside in the middle of the night.

But its on 18 acres and its paid for... out in the desert prices are PDG.... In the town you can get a single family home on an R1 lot for around 200k... But there is NO work unless you want to drive sixty miles either direction...

You live in my home...... Yup couldn't tell from outside. But crawl under this puppy and the kitchen bathroom and spare room (daughter bedroom) sit on top of a metal frame...... Total shack......:gig

Sorry, I forgot to update y'all...

Shade's aunt was put on a feeding tube a couple days ago, then all meds except painkillers were stopped the other day... she passed away around 2:30 this morning... thanks for all the support, everyone... :hugs
Sorry Ravyn tell Shade :hugs

Awesome... Did they build a good roof over the top... Now I understand your underpinning issues. I am concerned about mine... the Mobile is still sitting on its original Piers... Which consist of concrete blocks and metal Jacks... Mind you our soil is really not soil its Decomposed granite and it compacts like concrete. But You take infrastructure that is designed to hold up a Cracker box made of tin and panelling then build a whole house over the top... Steel underframe and all its got to be overloaded by a factor of at least three maybe four...

No basement for workspace.... Very rarely will you see an actual basement in California.

Nothing wrong with that! I live in a tin can remember...:lau
You know if you insulated somehow your cold issues would resolve somewhat.... Could be as simple as cob on the outside... Or building a sleeping cube. Four poster beds had a purpose besides decoration or play in the old days.... Castles were inherently cold... So they built the beds inside a frame with curtains on the sides to keep the heat in.

Same goes for Curtains over doors.... Windows we understand but they used to put curtains over the doors to keep the cold out and the heat in.
