Interesting, & a setup for an experiment. Assuming the eggs in the oven now actually hatch, I should have a few pullets a month younger than the Buffs I bought a couple weeks ago, all living together. We'll see which, if any, regularly get broody.I'm going to give a few of the jubilees to my broody tonight.
Hey @kwhites634 , every single BCM hen I have is or just was broody; completely illiterate group of breed specification readers. That, or Sour's incantation bounced through Rav and WV and ended on me.
But think of the feeling of superiority when you tower over things you're normally at eye level with. Of course, it would be more effective if you could actually see the things you're towering over.Pretty sad when you have to wear snowshoes in the back yard on 18 April...... Snow is as deep as the dang to of the picnic table.

Or, she could be a closet exhibitionist.hink I'm gonna add any babies. At first I wanted to & if Poppy hI don't tadn't seemed on deaths door, I might have (especially since the feed store has Langshans & I'm a sucker for black iridescence.) Ultimately tho, after watching them these past two days in the brooder I've decided not to. Their bond is INCREDIBLE & throwing a couple strangers in the mix feels unnatural. If she hadn't hatched any, or if they hadn't bonded, or whatever I would have, but in this exact scenario its a no. If things change I'll reconsider, but it doesn't look like it.
They say broodiness is contagious & Mako (rhymes with taco) has been in her nest the past two days ripping out all of her feathers.
That sounds like a busy, but great day! Congrats on finally getting the mask!
I hope he gets the job! I bet we've seen him at the aquarium & didn't know it.

Ohhhh...Mako's a duck. Pretty sure 1/2 the family & all of the neighborhood would kill me.I do have a hard case of Cayuga & Welsh Harlequin envy. I'd love to stick a couple under her & she could definitely use the duck exposure. A lifetime of living with chickens makes her think she is one.
Ohhhh...
Go for it! She needs ducklings!![]()
Maybe you could just get another duck hen for a buddy for her??She does! I believe its hard for her to be a duck in a land where everyone else speaks chicken. I long for the day when we can sex birds by their shell before they're born. Pyxis' emu shell DNA makes me believe this is in our future, just not soon enough for poor Mako.
