I just happened to think of Debs, and her being AWOL for a while now. Anyone know the deal with her?

I took the duo that I kept from my last hatch outside today. they were peeping, and Lexi was trying to find them, but she couldn't get to them, so I figured I'd try an introduction.
She wasn't too mean to them, but they didn't follow her around, so no adoption there.
But the duo stayed in the big duck pen all day without incident.

I did some pen swapping. Moved a cockerel out of one pen, was going to cull him, and hubby talked me out of it!
He said "why kill him just because you don't need him...? that's mean"

Also got my temporary pen taken down, didn't get it put back together for the BCMs. We decided to go ahead and get the stuff for the permanent addition, instead of doing another temporary thing.

And Lexi lost another baby today. One died on like day 2. Got too cold. Today I did a head count, one was missing, heard it peeping... It was stuck in some chicken wire. No idea how long. It was limp. I warmed it up, laid it down to see if she would try to care for it, but she walked right by it. Brought it inside and it died a couple hours later.

Damn.. I'm sorry!

I'm heading to bed early, too. Tomorrow is my ambulance service's annual pancake breakfast. Setup is to start at 6:00 am, but I'll probably get there closer to 7. We serve from 8-1, and by the time we're done with cleanup it's about 3:00. Usually a long, tiring day but fun.

On the hatching front... 7 (of 9) bantam cochins have hatched, they are done. 1 Cream legbar (male) hatched, still nothing in the others, but a few are still alive. Aurora said they hatch late sometimes, so I'll be patient.

oh, and Lexi took the babies for a swim. While I worried. But look how cute. Lol

Think I'll do the same. Tomorrow they are having a get together for Tadpole's half-birthday, so I'll be gone most of the day too.

Good night FMF, sorry i missed you. Been crazy busy! Got up at 6 for the swap, scraped the frost off the windshield! Brrr! But it turned into a great day, sold 4 bunnys, eggs, and bought CCL hatching eggs!

California weather has finally begun to crank up the heat! It will go back and forth from 80-90s and then down into the 70s from now until June... But, definitely shorts weather.
Final count: 8 Biele pullets, 7 Biele cockerels, 1 BCM, 1 BlueCM, 1 Birchen Blue Marans, and 2 Splash (1 of those probably won't make it... It has some issues and was assisted). I've been using the little kitchen racks as MHP frames. They've worked great and you can get them at just about any thrift store.
