Oh no! I'm so sorry!
I just had a little SB drown itself in one of those tiny mason jar waterers... it was an assisted hatch w some feet issues, but still...

I quit using those; can't get 'em to quit leaking, plastic or metal.
I went to the regular plastic ones with the bail on top. Hang one from a screw hook under the raised coop & the other from the framework of what passes for a tractor. I need to get a third one set up in the other run; whole lot easier to keep clean than a Fortex feed pan. I keep them at just the right height for the little ones so that they have to stretch a bit to get a drink; hard to drown that way.

Oh, I forgot to say, Lacie won't be hatching eggs. They all quit for some reason, I don't know why. Poor girl has never once successfully hatched, I was really hoping this year would be the year.

I took her eggs a few days ago but she kept sitting in the nesting box on nothing so today I yanked the whole thing out. Hopefully that does the trick because it's been five and half weeks and she needs to stop.

Looks like Phoebe is gonna end up with a lone duckling. But Malibus are due soon too, so maybe they will share. Malibu has 8 (or was it 7) looking good. Hopefully she will get a few extras.

Well chit! Just went out to check around the birds and found this serama chick on its back, kicking. Picked it up, it aspirated and died in my hand. It was one of just a few dark ones I've gotten lately. Fragile chicks. I always seem to lose a few of the tiny ones.

Well, looks like the storm that threatened yesterday has decided to hit today... and i just put towels in the wash 30 minutes ago when there were no clouds.. now its pouring rain and storming .. never fails.

Pack up & hit the lake; take your mind off it for a while. I've already been this morning. Closest pond's all scummed over, after being 90% open yesterday. Pond down the road bank to bank pads...never seen pads there before. Lake 10-15 miles from here wide open, but all I could manage was a small Crappie, on a Crappie jig under a bobber, and a small Channel Cat on a small blue/white spinner bait.

Oh! and a big stick fish!

We got up early to go to Wolf Run, but rain was predicted, so we didn't go. Of course the rain never hit here, but not sure about up there.

I just found another dead serama. A black one. This one had been trampled, so I'm not sure what happened. The first few weeks are always rough for them.

Ok. This is dumb. I going to Disneyland tomorrow all by myself to meet an old friend who had 6 free tickets & is celebrating his 50th birthday. I was a little honored to be one of his chosen 5, so I agreed to go. Now I'm realizing that;
1 - My mom is here & the kids will have to watch her all day/night.
2 - I hate people, especially massive groups of germy, touristy ones.
3 - I'm gonna be in a parking lot...in Anaheim... alone... at night... YIKES!
4- I'll have to get up at o'dark thirty to drive hours in morning traffic when it should only be an hour & 15min trip.
5 - I am so broke. Yes, I'm getting in free, but even just parking is $20, & moms trip has got me so far into the red its not even funny.
6- I got a gnarly case a vertigo out of nowhere last October... Am I gonna get sick there & be stuck? What if #6 & #3 are combined??? Oh God, what was I thinking?
