Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Evening Pond friends :hugs

We just enjoyed a dinner of some of the wonderful gifts and are snuggling in, listening to the wind, and thankful we have a safe warm home where we plan to stay this evening, quietly contemplating the year that has been, grateful we weathered all the small squalls and vicious storms, finding still waters once more and wondering what adventures yet lie ahead in the new year for my aging captain and his loyal first mate before we finally sail into "His" safe harbour. ;)

A very safe and blessed New year everyone :love

I may very well be in bed by 9:04 without seeing the ball drop. The Princess and I just calculated that this is the 57th New Year that we have celebrated together. :love

Wow! Inspiring. I mean it. :hugs

Whites is heavy on my mind. If you can hear me KW, I hope you're being safe & hanging in there. :fl:hugs
I can hear you. Made it home about a hour ago. No problem going down if you don't mind endless road closures that the lady in the GPS doesn't know about in a city you've never been in. Remind me to never go to Winston-Salem NC again! We'd still be running around lost had we not stumbled onto what had to be the friendliest, most accommodating cop ever. He didn't give us directions, but escorted us literally to the front door of the hospital & turned us over to a volunteer "guide" who showed us exactly where we needed to go.

The drive home was even more exciting. Not only did we spend an hour trying to get out of town, due again to road construction closures, we had the pleasure of doing it in the rain. Actually, everything we did today we did in the rain, & sometimes extremely thick fog.

In between trips, we got to spend some quality time with my brother. He spent a lot of time quietly staring into space & likely contemplating his circumstances & immediate future, such as it is. He also felt up to joining a wide-ranging 5 way conversation for over an hour. The hospital staff is intent on making him as comfortable as possible with chemo & radiation. There's talk about the possibility of going to a rehab center, but I'm not holding my breath. We'll see; miracles happen every day.

Naturally, it's sad facing the very real possibility of never seeing a sibling alive again, 'specially when they're 14 years my junior, but I'm glad I went, as I think he is.

I don't about you, pal, but if my spouse invited me to "do stuff" it'd be a no brainer,
