The problem with llamas, as I understand it, not being an owner, is the nasty dispositions of some who don't play well with others, including "their" people.

I have heard that too, and that they spit at you like camels. They need some serious PR work. lol Somewhere I have a decades old pic of me and my brothers in a 'selfie' with a llama at the Circus World Museum, Baraboo, WI, that one was well behaved.

Can I stand on my soapbox a minute?

I've been on a mission to buy my great-nieces/nephews little kid books after visiting them a few months ago & realizing they have none. They live out of state & so once a month I pick a new one from Amazon to be shipped out. The books I pick are all well read favorites of mine, but I still read the negative reviews because some of them are badly printed, damaged or edited, etc...

I am BLOWN AWAY at how badly the Snowflakes have victimized all of my most cherished reading material. Get this; My all time fav kids book 'A Fly Went By' has been totally demonized because (1.) There is a man with a gun (2.) The fox thinks the man wants to kill him. (3.) The fox actually uses the word 'KILL' & (4.) The boy threatens to 'whip' an animal for chasing a baby calf. I can not freaking believe this! Multiple reviews said that there were messages of violence throughout the whole book, that they parents were mortified, it disgusted them, ruined their whole day, they were traumatized & even that its racist.... WTH???

Would you believe that Hop on Pop "encourages bad behavior". One Fish, Two Fish & Go Dog Go are "random jibber jabber." Green Eggs & Ham "Encourages children to say I don't like things" & is "creepy" because it "exhibits extreme lack of respect for individual boundaries & a persons ability to say no." Sam was also referred to as "a dealer pushing something on someone for free to get them addicted to it." Are You My Mother is a "terrible child abandonment story" & has "no respect for foster, adopted, or interracial families where parents don't always look like their children." I can only assume that Put Me In The Zoo is encouraging caged animals preform in captivity & Fish Out of Water is a fat shamming book.

I could go on all night, but dinner just walked thru the door. Suffice it to say, I'm frustrated!!! I was raised on these books, raised a generation of nieces & nephews on these books & even raised my own kids on them. Whats next? Burning AA Milne books?

While I find it maddening, I also laugh at the silliness of it. I can’t believe some people have so much time on their hands as to sit and write reviews like that on old classics. And if idiots don’t buy the books because of such stupidity, then they probably don’t deserve to read it anyway.

I’d love to see their reviews of Fox and the Hound, and Lady and the Tramp

OK I have a question about LLamas. Does any one in this group raise or have LLamas?
Or know any one that has them on BYC?

I am beginning research for companion animals which I can trim their hooves my self .... There are several Llama breeders here in San Diego... I want one that can go with me on walks and possibly carry a back pack and harness to steady me if I have balance issues.

We had a Pond member (or prior thread?) that raised them. I’m only on my first cup of coffee and her ID isn’t coming to me. She hasn’t been around for a while, but she loved them. I need to remember and look her up.

Shad, basically I think the origin had political roots to describe 'anyone' who did not agree with what you believe in - I won't go any further on that. Generally a 'snowflake' is someone with a warped sense of reality. And as used by Room is quite appropriate.

Thanks. Very delicately explained I've worked it out now. I can be a bit slow some days. Apparently it comes from the book Fight Club, which I've read but don't remember.
I thought it might have been an organization of some kind.

You said "rent"; my mind jumped to "buy", but it still ain't a bad idea.

He'd never sell the land.... I'm not sure it's his to sell...... His father owned hundreds of acres around here... It's all family land..... They own several lakes even..... His dad worked for the railroad died a few years ago at the ripe old age of 100..... he would not have stood for this crap. But if buy the trailer for scrap.... Or just rent the lot..... Brian just doesn't have the balls to do something about his kid.
If I rented the place then it would be me sticking my neck out.... Although he did threaten to burn down his dad's house while he slept..... Could do the same to me.

Just so HE has an excuse NOT to have to deal with it.

You know it sucks cuz I live in such a great place.... One person can screw it up.
