Morning Pond
Well, we've been having pretty much the same weather as Bobbi except where she was having a horrible blizzard we were still getting rain over the ice. Temps dropped so now we're just ice with a dusting of snow and winds that are making the power go off and on. Oh, and the fog was so bad yesterday I didn't risk trying to get to town

I hate snow on top of ice(unless they weld together)!!! That is horrd to walk or drive on!

GPS will send people looking for our place to a slough about 5 miles north of us.

Our road doesn't even exist according to gps..

where I live is pretty much desolate.... It says 10 per square mile but still 90 % of that population is clumped together in towns.
The desert sounds wonderful to me.... But I'd for sure want to be in an area where you could see no one for miles....

Hows this Phil My house and my eighteen acres crudely sketched on... There are four other homes in this view Which includes Blm Land and parcels that are twenty acres.
My house is at the highest point and the view shows the BLM land and Mexico in the far distance.

Here most people have small plots... like an acre or 10... but there is so much federal land and native land... huge areas... keeps the density down.



Nah... if a tornado is coming too, can't be from me.



There is a way to do it.... people up here have them, don't take them down, and the snow slides off without breaking them off.... not sure how though.

Actually we have a ton of state , federal and CFR land here to.... It really is a Sportmans Paradise

After our first trip up there, DH said if he’d gone up 40 years ago, he’d still be there. (I’m glad he didn’t - we’ve only been married for 36 years.) Even now, if I even hinted at it, I think he’d be packing up and moving. We could be Al’s neighbors!


Our cell reception is sketchy, too. I tell people we need to lean over the back deck, holding onto a wire coat hangar, wearing our tinfoil hats to get any reception.

If I walk around in my yard I can sometimes get cell reception..... Sometimes

Good morning Pond Peeps
I have some good news..
Had a family chat yesterday about my issues with keeping my birds and while I am going to drastically reduce the numbers I have, Im still gonna have some birds!
We're going to get some large hanging feeders so feeding doesn't have to be done daily, just check them and gather any eggs and Brandon said he'll take care of the water.. just during winte, I can manage the rest of the year myself.. Hopefully it'll work out better next winter, if not we'll reevaluate... but for now, its all ok!
