Good morning floaters . Perch talk makes me feel like a tale this morning .Haven is finding a place unfished landing mess of fifty white perch .Being so proud of your find and catch .Asking mama if we could leave the heads on,so my daddy could see how big they were.I was twelve and would rather fish than go to school .In 1962 we moved from the swamps of Arkansas the heart of Nashville three blocks off broadway. What a cluture shock .Little better than a slum house. I was 8 years old .We lived in the city till I was 12 .4 different places in 4 years .At the time Nashville was a very different place .I remember cobble stone streets and alleys .The cumberland river split east nashville and downtown .Short drive south put you in the rural part of the city. The last place we lived before going back to a milk cow hogs goats and chickens .The cumberland still flooded some .Old Hickory dam and lake were just being finished. Bayous along the river filled with wildlife. We walked to the river to fish for cat fish. Explored the area around where we lived. I had heard of a underground lake that was supposed to be large with no outlet .I covered a lot of ground wonded from fishing hole to fishing hole. I came across a water hole at the base of a small bluff ,not much bigger than a sofa .It was deep and I dropped in my line .I instantiy pulled out the largest white perch I had ever seen .Within a hour.I pulled fifty large beautiful white perch out of that hole . Less than a quater mile from home .I dont recall ever being so proud of a catch before or after. And wanted my daddy to see how big they were .Pretty sure it was the only outlet to the under ground lake where all the fish came to feed. I come by it honestly .Dad was always looking for a good place to bank fish .To poor to afford a boat.We spent many nights fishing all night at deep holes in small streams and creeks .Followed dogs all night coon hunting .We had coon hounds. For rabbit hunting , I was the Begal .It seemed so hard then and so wonderful now.

Made lady fingers and shortbread cookies
It's a yellow perch..... they grow big here.... I've never seen a white perch.....i believe that aren't related.... yellow perch is close close relative to the walleyeWe don’t grow them that big here. A 13-14” is a big perch for us. But ours are yellow perch, so maybe that’s why.
...I just re-read my post & if you read it fast it looks like I'm an obsessive compulsive bed wetter.![]()
