Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I drove a 68 ford ranger from Washington to Nebraska I was just 15 Ma bought me the truck to go to college.. Lived with Dads brother and his wife my aunt Marge and uncle Paul stayed there with them my two cousins till I was 18 graduated went for home gave the old truck my oldest cuz bought a new 1978 3/4 ton jimmy truck got back to Washington state drove around like three years before I got a drivers license took 2 tries

I had no idea failing the first try (or many more), was so common.

I showed up, took it, passed, was done.

But I do remember that I had 3 tries to parallel park, and as long as i didn't hit the cones, i could still pass the test, even if the parking job was horrid.

And yeah, i couldn't parallel.

My first car a clutch Three speed Corvair. Hardest thing for me was starting out on a hill in traffic.

Funniest thing I learned was the reverse was straight down from first. and that when you bounce off a truck from a stop sign Both the Teacher and the truck driver got out laughing... Teacher being Dad Truck driver being... a truck driver... Damage was my pride.

That was my daughter's first car. Hardest clutch that I have ever seen on a vehicle, but it was what she wanted, and through some tears she mastered it. That car was an oil guzzler, and she rode around with a box of oil on the back seat.

The truck was three on the tree learned how to drive in a field with no trees just'
Ma saying STOP... Go ... She laid wood to parallel park... Even gave me two extra feet beyond the tailgate of the truck .. Can I parallel park learned later to back my 450 a 30 ft trailer and a 16 foot utility trailer between like rigs

I kept a fresh can... Had to learn how to restring the serpentine Belt too. Oh and on those clutches the link where its fastened is an issue. The one on mine had a pin in it that had developed a flat spot. when it rotated into the right position you couldn't get it into second gear or our of second gear...
