Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I dont know if I can move home now... I have to go up and see how much damage there is.

Rita who took in my horse went up a year later and got my horse trailer. She mentioned that my house was wide open. I figured they just shut the windows and locked the doors. The broken window I knew about it was in the kitchen between the kitchen and my bedroom.
That was two years ago.

Today when i went up to talk to her about bringing my horse trailer home to pack for the move. She looked alarmed and said you cant move up there. then she clearly detailed all the damage that had been done...

Windows broken out feces on the floor the furniture gone.... Broken entry door and side light broken sliding door to the greenhouse room.

I didnt have alot of furniture in the house a very nice leather and oak recliner. An Oak Ball and Claw table that I finished myself. And a sleigh bed in my art studio. I dont know how observant she is or was at the time. So I need to assess the damage myself. TWO FFREAKINGG years later.

Here I thought she was just making comment on my house keeping...

i am stunned.

If its as bad as she says it was its worse now. Water damage to the floors has them rotted out she says. Glass every where. Broken windows I only hope they left the Kitchen stove, the Potbelly stove, and the water heater. I am guessing the washing mashine and the Dryer are gone as well.

I probably wont be able to do anything but make it habitable.

I been crying all day... off and on.

Oh, Deb...:hugs:hugs:hugs

They are very unlikely to fight :) Geese are great parents and the whole flock often looks out for goslings. The two girls will almost definitely have no issues raising them together.
Thank you for answering. Its always nice to have multiple opinions.

Yep.

I have had two ducks raise ducklings together.
I had two ducks brood just fine. Then they fought.

This is a friend of yours? She was aware enough to notice the open windows & unlocked doors, but not enough to lock up when she left, even if the place had been vacant & untended for a year? Afraid I don't understand.

Orr! Orr! Orr! I've missed you!!! :hugs I'm sorry to hear about the other stuff, but excited for your 5th graders. We hatched chicks in my 1st grade class. It left a lifelong impression & I swear it was the catalyst for making me the crazy chicken lady I am today.
I haven't really done much hatching in the last couple years, so I hope it turns out well!
The kids are excited and make circuitous routes to get things so they can walk by and look in the incubator. Yep, guys, they're still just eggs.
Missed you too, Broom! :jumpy

Hello all. Good to see you Orr!

@Alaskan both of the d’Uccle eggs that I set have pipped!! Yesterday. Nice big cracks today, so they should pop out any time now. I’m anxious to see the color, since I’m not sure which hen laid them.
also have some other pips and call duck eggs due this weekend. First hatch of the year is always fun.
And I noticed the pigeon hen that hatched a pair on New Years Eve already has another pair she is on!
D'uccles are so cute! I wish we could have kept the ones we hatched a few years ago... but we have too many Cooper's hawks that don't bug my big birds, but cause trouble with anything smaller.
Good to "see" you, too! :hugs:)

:hugs. Breaks my heart for you and pisses me off at the same time!

No the windows and sliding glass doors were broken out. There was no way they could have secured it.

but her casual way of telling me in the first place didnt send up warning flags. I ASSumed that she had locked the doors.

Guess not.

Both d’Uccle hatched, now several of the bantam cochins have pipped!
And dummy me totally forgot to buy chick feed! All my birds are on layer now, but I’ll send hubby to the store in the morning. Layer feed won’t kill them overnight.
