Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Happy Fathers Day to all of you man folk out there. Whether you’re raising kids, grandkids, animals or other peoples kids, it’s important work that you’re doing. I salute you guys! :love:bow
If it weren't for happy mothers, there'd be no happy fathers

Alaskan what happened that "turned you off" dogs? BTW you and sourland were the first two people I met on BYC.
Good question.... nor sure exactly.

I think it started slowly... spouse got a dog... spouse's dog..... and then I got stuck doing most of the work with the dog.. started resentment... then next dog and next house and I said absolutely no dog until we have a fence, or some other way to contain your dog!

So... almost no money coming in, on public assistance, and spouse gets a huge dog, but no fence is up... and I again am doing majority of care....

The next house, no longer of public assistance, and next dog.. I said, fence first, I will set up the fence for the dog. Spouse said, use this design... I said that will never keep in a dog... spouse said "this design", trust me. Also, I said do NOT get a dog that will kill chickens.

So... I set up the fence per spouse's design... it doesn't hold in the dog... I try to line the fence with chicken wire, dog tears up the chicken wire... at this point I am out of money... so give up.

Also, the dog kills a bunch of chickens, and I am stuck as the person that has to train the dog to not kill the chickens.

Spouse does very close to zero training.

So.... at this point... yeah...hate dogs.

GOOD MONDAY MORNING . :frow Hope every body had a good fathers day .Son brought the grandkids out .that was a hoot .littlest was everywhere from petting the kittens to bottle feeding the kids .loved every minute .
Someone dumped them for you ?
No mother is probably a feral and either left them there or was killed .Looked every where for her. No luck though .There is a hole in the floor and I can see that she left hair every time she went in and out .I figure they were so hungry , they were crying for her and came to the light .I know which one she is .A grey miduim length hair ,and pure wild .These kittins are not old enough to be weaned.and kitten milk replacer is $16 a quart.:thBut DW made me go get some. And we are syringe feeding kittens.

This is turning out to be a pitfall summer .I feel guilty if I am not working .I got so much that I need to do .had to quick move hay out of the field yesterday morning before the rain hit .Between repairs and then working the hay I am exhausted .And Ben will not be going to the center anytime soon .Need to take the loader off of one tractor put it on the other one .Then put a clutch in the tractor .I remember when I thought that was easy stuff. The pool is green again ,Never had so much trouble with it before .But if figure If god wanted me to rest he would have made an eight week.:lauHere we go round the fields again.:frow

'Al' I guess I am okay for my age, but for sure 'I am no longer 25.' Two friends had to leave the field today with near heat prostration, and they had been riding around in ATV's. We'll see what the next two days bring.
reminds me of a story i heard. He was an avid Cyclist. Even cycled from here down Baja and back. Of course he had friends that did similar things.

One year they, not him decided, to cycle Pikes Peak. I that's a major ride. about 13 miles and 7000 feet eventually reaching 14000 feet Altitude.

They made it. And while they were recovering they saw a seventy-ish year old man riding about on a beach cruiser. His license plate said.... "Gears are for Wimps" :gig

Not a fish eater but, love, love, love sweet corn especially the bi-color ones. When they are really good, I don't even use butter or salt.
I eat corn on the cob as a snack. All the rest put salt pepper and boat loads of butter. While I do indulge in butter on occasion I really prefer it chilled back down and eaten plain. If I can get a hold of white corn even better. Grocery stores are pretty limited choice wise.

My favorite way is Grilled in the husk... Brings out the sweetness big time. Though I do cook corn I never boil it any more. I cook it in the microwave rolled in plastic wrap. Its a way of steaming it and keeps all the goodness juice wise.

My Uncle Mitch was a hoot. Big Gravelly voice a Drill instructor and MP captain. They settled in Inyokern CA which is a very very small town outside of Ridgecrest CA which has a Navy base.

Eventually he became Police Chief of Ridgecrest. About the time that Gas Rationing was going on. Oh he had colorful stories to say the least. Always with teeth clenched when talking big grin and his neck and Blood vessels showing...

One year They got a pug. And he named it "The Man" or Manny. He and Helen my dads sister came to visit With Manny along. OH MY GAWD. You should have seen Mitch sitting on the couch with Manny tucked under his arm. Talking Freaking Baby talk to him. Gravelly voice big grin muscle and veins popping out... :gig

And yes he was potty trained Helen would have taken him out into the desert and SSS him. Did not like that woman one bit.
