Morning Pond, I have 8 eggs under the Silkie.. Started with 10 broke on handing it to her. She knocked one out, not fertile I guess .... are they that smart?
Got up at 8 should be a law

Interesting.

Haha. One and an old tea bottle was under her I don't think it's fertile, none of my leghorns will stay in the coop with my rooster, heck I can't even catch them, they roost like 40ft up in the oaks usually. If she's still there this afternoon I've got some eggs I wanted to set after my goose eggs hatch in a few days and I'll pop those under her.

Most of my Leghorns that have gone broody have been super sneaky about it. The hen just vanishes and then pops up later with chicks.

No broodies here... just mountains of snow.

It is trying to melt though. And a spring bird has shown up....
