This is that we pullet from bought eggs (well, I'm gonna say pullet, I may be wrong.
) Got some crazy gray/cream lacing going on. She also seems to have more of a tuffts thing going than a beard.

I think Araucanas are the only breed with ear tufts? This is that we pullet from bought eggs (well, I'm gonna say pullet, I may be wrong.) Got some crazy gray/cream lacing going on. She also seems to have more of a tuffts thing going than a beard.

Pretty far spacing on those bars... interesting. Was not expecting a "barred" chick from a laced rooster.

This is so great!Good Morning, Pond -
Another beautiful, sunny day. I’m enjoying my one morning this week to slowly wake up and get going at my leisure. But I have an appointment in town at 10:00, and the rest of the month will be nonstop from there on out. Our little Bible camp starts on Sunday, and I will be cooking down there again during our 3 weeks of operation. This week is getting all the food down there, precooking, cleaning my camper (I have that at Camp and stay in it. I love my little camper!), plus going with Mom to the attorney tomorrow with step-dad’s son and daughter for the reading of his will (I have no interest in the will, and am not in the will - I’m just going to be there for my mom), then off to another town an hour away to return a small cabinet at Menards... I think I will be able to sleep in July.
Dan - I’ve been enjoying your chick pictures.
I candled my broody’s eggs last night. She started off with 12. Two had broken, one for sure is clear, and I’m pretty sure another one quit early on, but will double check on Friday when I look again. Chicks are due to hatch on the 11th. I set her so they’ll be hatching at the end of my first week of Camp.
In case I don’t check in again for a while, I hope you all have a wonderful week. I usually do pop in once a day or so to see what everyone is up to, just don’t always take the time to comment.
Sorry about your hatch bust. At least you have more than one so you don't have to go buy "friends" for them!Is camp a make money thing, or a break even thing, or do it for the kids thing?
Have fun!
My incubation was close to a bust... not sure why... out of 18 eggs 3 hatched... and most at least started but they were from my bantam Ameraucana pen, and those blue eggs are way difficult to see into clearly.
So....![]()
That's what I was thinking. Maybe there was some of that in the lines a few generations ago.I think Araucanas are the only breed with ear tufts?
Huh...interesting.
