Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Is this young man a Cochin? @WVduckchick - anybody? He was a mystery bird in a chick shipment. He's super mellow and very quiet.

Pretty fella! Looks like a cochin, but a little thinner than I usually see, so possibly a cross with something else? Or it’s probably just because he is young.

Is he standard sized or bantam? My bantam cochins have always been very mellow. I wouldn’t call them quiet though! :D

A few of my fattie crew.
I actually just sold most of the juveniles this week.

Good morning, Pond!
Hope all is well!
I've had Mom here since the 15th of June - she leaves to 20th of this month (oh yeah, happy July everybody!). She has really gone downhill since her last visit (mentally the most - physically a bit) so I can't leave her alone. It's been a bit rough, but we're hanging in.

Yeah, it's been hot here - earlier than normal - but it's pretty standard fare for this time of year.
Where will she go when she leaves you?

Good Afternoon, Pond!
Camp ended a week ago, but I haven’t had time to catch my breath yet. The day Camp was over, oldest DS and family (DIL and GDs, ages 3 and 5) came. We celebrated my mom’s 80th birthday (11 months late) all weekend. I rented the camp for the weekend and we had a great turnout. Twenty seven of us all together, 11 of those being children, and 10 of those kids were under the age of 6. Oh, and there were also 6 dogs. Blessed chaos! Monday was spent down at Camp wrapping things up for the summer.

Tuesday our two local grandkids and their dog (aka the “wretched little beast”) came for a couple of days while their parents went on a mini vacation. Parents are coming back today. Tomorrow I am going with my mom to one of the big cities for an appointment for her knees. Both are bad. I told DH that unless he had plans, I need a day or three to myself to do my own thing on my schedule so he will have to pretend that I’m not home.

I hope everyone is having a great day!

I wasn't sure if he might be a brahma, but I don't think he's big enough. He's probably about 14 weeks old now - not made one single advance on any of the girls in the group (unlike the rest of the boys his age!) The pullet in the pic w him is a 16 week old Silverrud (they're leghorn sized).

What birds do you now have?

Bantam cochins, Seramas, porcelain d'uccles, another pen of d'uccles with multiple color varieties (eventually want all golden neck), bantam white phoenix, golden phoenix, about 40 satinette pigeons, and my call ducks. Back up to 43 call ducks after losing a few to predators, but 3 hens had healthy hatches. One duck hen still on 8 eggs, due soon. Several seramas hatching babies right now too.

Whew! I think I'd ask for a whole week! :)
Glad it's all going well though, and that you're having so much time with your family!
