Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Ponders good morning one and all!

I broke a tooth last night and am waiting for a call from my dentist.

Have a great day!
The entire tooth thing!!!!

:barnie :hugs
I hope your tooth gets fixed fast!!!

I remember my youth... when my teeth were pain free.... and I could chew without thought or discomfort.

-sigh-

You know you’re innocent even if blood was drawn. Of course I know you want peace. Put up some fencing before the ground freezes, or next week when it’s supposed to thaw out, and walk Smores there. It doesn’t have to be dog proof, just a visual deterrent for the puppy.

In my running-with-a-dog-years experience and every conceivable interaction - bikes, horses, lots of other dogs, all kinds of people (it's California after all!) - those dogs that are on-leash are much more protective of their owners than those off leash. Off leash, they do a lot of butt sniffing and some warning off (females warn off more than males, older more than younger) but have only ever had issues with dogs on leash. I think being attached to their owner makes them more protective? Not sure - maybe @sourland knows?

Some dogs are definitely protective on leash - but there are others that for one reason or another just don't want their space invaded. This can be especially true of timid or abused animals.

Morning Pond Wet as the ocean here ..
Often abused can be more protective .. Fences make good neighbors .. Wood and field wire is not that expensive

Thank you all. Before we even got her we had plans for a fence but not for a few more years. Fences make good neighbors! Right now, I'm laid off and DH is trying to find a job so we're penny pinching. We were told that she's a very protective dog and a bit aggressive. We know that she was abused as a puppy (her hips were actually broken from abuse. I'm assuming from being kicked). We were also told that she can't be trusted off leash as she will take off. With her fear of new people and new situations, I would never trust her. I did try to introduce her to one of my kid's, friend's, parents with a warning and their permission. They kept their distance, squatted down and just talked to her in our screen porch.... Smores just growled the whole time and shook like a leaf from head to toe. She has some serious baggage! She's great with all of us though and has been playing and licking lots of faces and when she lived with my brother in law, she lived with 3 young kids and several other dogs. They're actually all coming up tonight to visit and see her for the first time in two weeks. I hear that the kids are very excited and one is spending the night lol.

IMHO the best way to get a nervous dog used to a new person is to instruct the person to just totally ignore the dog.

Dudes... overly stressed....

I have been doing the church choir stuff... but now I am having to incorporate another person....

SO HARD FOR ME!!!! I have to be incredibly careful... people get bent out of shape over music incredibly easily... and I am terribly worried of hurting feelings.

And this guy works long hours... so not like he can practice much with me... got him to practice for only one hour this past week.... just...

I am not a great singer... so if he bellows out... all off key... it scrambles the music in my head and I can't sing it correctly.

I already swapped out one song... because he kept singing it SO LOUDLY and so very off that my sons and I just could not get him back on track... and it is a song my sons (if he weren't there singing it wrong) sing well.

But just... :barnie I want everyone who wants to sing to sing.... and I am happy for people that sing terribly to sing. But it is hard if they sing terribly and loudly and stand right at your shoulder.

ALSO.... church council meeting is tomorrow.

:hit :hit :hit :barnie

Incredibly stressful
