Good Afternoon, Pond!

Penny, glad your pullets showed back up and congratulations on the upcoming wedding!

Al, it’s close enough now that it will be over before you know it. Enjoy the moments and make memories. 🤞🏻that the icons show up in time.

I’m sitting in the ER with my mother for the second time in under 24 hours. She had her thyroid removed on Monday (along with a couple of nodules, one on each side, 6mm each, and pushing on her windpipe). Yesterday she was feeling lightheaded, so called the surgeon’s office (3 hours from here) who told her to check into our local ER. Vitals, labs, everything looked good so they thought maybe vertigo. Gave her some meclizine, it seemed to help, so they sent her home. She slept the rest of the afternoon and evening because she’s a lightweight when it comes to anything that “may cause drowsiness”. She was OK this morning. Brought her in for an appointment to get her drain tube removed. Again, everything looked good. We stopped by my sister-in-law’s to drop off some green beans and stayed to visit for a bit. I don’t think we were there for 15 minutes when Mom said she was feeling more dizzy and sweaty. Tried to assist her to a recliner, but she started shaking and had to sit down. SIL looked and me and suggested an ambulance. Mom said no, then started mumbling incoherently. We called. Mom quickly became unresponsive to voice and pain. By the time the ambulance showed up (within 5-10 minutes, it’s hard to say) she was responding to painful stimuli, and alert when they got her in the truck. Thankfully, paramedic son was on call. Again, vitals and labs are good. Dr. is suspecting a vasovagal reaction to the stress, but took head and neck CT and chest xray just to rule out any other cause. They will be keeping her tonight for sure, just to keep an eye on her. I am so relieved that they are keeping her. Tomorrow is her 84th birthday.
