And the little ones with momma are a week old, and barely bigger than a golf ball! The egg-layers are all very small, momma hatcher is a much bigger girl. It's so amusing to watch them flit around the run.

I found the Blue Swedes nest, I know it's hers though because I only found it becacue she freaked when I walked by. Yup, just as I suspected she lays the tiny eggs I tend not to set which explains why I haven't gotten any Swedes lately.

No she is not currently broody.

Howdy howdy.... I was real busy today..... Wife is sick again... It's getting old she doesn't hardly ever get out of bed on her days off anymore.
Then complains that she doesn't want to go to work on her work days. Told her she needs to get this taken care of.... Is getting old. I went fishing this evening. Steelhead aren't cooperating but I got out plan to spend a couple of hard days on the water this weekend.

Morning Pondies! Look what our CX hen laid yesterday! The darker egg is a XL Jersey Giant for comparison.

The twins are still alive. Since the egg was 100% dark, I opened where the air cell was supposed to be and wiped neosporin on the exposed membrane. Right on top is a yolk sac, indicating an upside down poult. I will wait until the yolk sac is more absorbed and go in after them. The other appears to have its beak near the membrane but not in normal hatching position.
