Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Okay...more intros to Peeps of the Pond:

Pyxis - probably the most patient of all pondies.  Thankfully, doesn't abide bad advice so she'll happily share the correct info without even a :smack   to the people acting too big for their britches.

lucysducks11 - comical, soft-hearted & has the strength most people can only wish for.  Loves ducks.  Photogenic.  Recently saved by the postman when she blinded herself while stuck on an island.

BYC910 - great father!!  Needs to figure how to clone hisself because I can't understand how he gets so much done in a days time.  Tough exterior & soft on the inside.

LittleLakePhil - one of the biggest hearts you'll ever meet.  Fisherman, can fix darn near anything with a motor.  Proud of the UP.

FridayYet - this gal works too hard & doesn't grace us with her full humor.  Maybe someday.  She's working on her lovely garden.  Has a supermama chicken named Joan.

sourland - please step away from his lily pad.  He's kinda territorial that way & please if you splash his pad, dry it off.  Quite a character.  Drops some his wisdom on us almost daily.

perchie.girl - quick wit, great humor.  Has taught herself to make awesome jewelry.  Has had chickens & I think she misses them now & then.

WalnutHill - Another with a good variety of birds.  Can probably hatch about anything and same goes for building things.  Talent abounds with this chick.

Dan(with some digits following his name) - he's our token kid.  Gardens like a madman.  Has ducks, chickens, bunnies, heck, you name it.  Will randomly post pics of flowers, kits, growing vegetables.

Tumbling K - one of my favorite Texans.  He's usually here M-F.  Takes the weekends off.  Watch out for this one.  He can joke & amuse you before you know what hit ya!

Frmboy - I might not be right on with his user name.  He recently moved and has acquired some chicks again.  Has at least 2 younguns that enjoy the feathered babies.

minihorse - she's not been around a while.  I know she got really busy with a project & then caught some wicked bug.

Fondly missed...TurksPoultry, Ol Grey Mare.  I'm sure there are more, but I'm old, forgetful and ready for an afternoon nap since I'm so very tired of all the rain.

If only I saw myself through the same set of eyes you all see me through, I do believe that was the kindest discription of me and I almost cried. Thank you :)

HA...no way I could list all yer critters.

Pyxis, best of luck with that sticky situation.  It's tough on it's own & worse cuz it's family.  :fl     Hope the urge to keep birds passes as quickly as it showed up!

Thanks for the nice description of me :)

And thanks also for the well wishes about this situation. It's been confirmed that it's the boyfriend that really wants them. I called my mom to ask if my cousin had said anything to her about it and was told that no, but she did let my mom know the other day that he had bought a bag of feed to "help" me feed my chickens because he likes them. Glad he likes them, but maybe get my permission first before you go feeding my birds (that already have feed anyway). So this is almost definitely him wanting them. And he lives in an apartment above a restaurant so it's not like he's taking them with him if things go south in their relationship.

Bless your heart. I've admired your restraint along with how well you explain things to people.

I'm really hoping the urge will pass and that they leave your birds alone.

Okay here goes...
I am the oldest of 8 I have 3 grown children (my daughter has more blonde moments than me and she's not even blonde). I have 3 granddaughters and 5 grandsons (2 I adopted). I have lost count on feathered babies, thanks to boys who think we need another 3 every time we hit Atwoods. I take in dropped off dogs because I'm a glutton for punishment (and not the good kind obviously). I divorced in I think 95, yep that's how important it was and don't care to remember, still single because I decided I cannot pick a good man even if my life depended on it. I have a problem saying no if someone needs help (not a bad thing of course) and some people try to take advantage of me, jokes on them when they do. I am rarely serious and have a warped sense of humor so if you trip in front of me I am going to laugh regardless of how bad you're hurt. I really cannot help it and will feel bad after I can stop laughing. I can be your best friend or your worst enemy, that is your decision. My life is really pretty boring but I love it! I am an extremely easy going control freak that will compromise half the time. Gotta be fair right?!

Welcome home, sis!!! :lau

Headed to my Grandma's house (soon to be DD's house) to see what my old Clark floor machine can do for 93 year old oak floors...

Then to MIL's for my birthday dinner!

Happy Birthday, my friend!!!! :hugs

Hmm, let's see...intro to Peeps of the Pond:

WV - creator of our hang out, she's an all arounder...er, meaning she keeps chickens & ducks and has tried quail.  She incubates and let's her broodies hatch.  Recently added 12 Calls to her growing family.  Hubby is a great guy, has had a couple of health issues that had me very nervous, but he's coming around now.  WV will plead the 5th as needed and drink it when available.

CTKen - well, what can I say?  He loves monkeys, lives in Africa (probably due to his love of monkeys) and can turn about anything said into something colorful.  Guess that makes him an artist.

Ravyn - she's our resident angel.  Works too hard, doesn't play hard enough.  Very helpful; full of...knowledge.  Has Calls out the wazoo and one mama duck that apparently finds strays down the hill. She's often on here late at night getting silly.

casportpony - bet ya can't guess what state she's in...no, not a drunken state.  I mean where she's located.  Let's get back on track, shall we?  She goes by Kathy.  Has an abundance of knowledge.  Knows more about bird poop than any other person I know.  She has all sorts of birds...ducks, chickens, peas, etc.

AmyPaperLady - she gets around.  Upcoming trip to UK.  Keeps busy with family, kids, birds.  Oh, she also somehow finds time (or used to) to make fudge & stuff.

DwayneNLiz - now I can't swear to it, but I think this is really just Liz.  Lives in the great white north (NH) and like me, wishes she was in a warmer climate.  She knows stuff, too, about hatching.

abbevilleoz - Recently became a grandpa.  Has a strong dislike of thumbs.  Very handy despite that.  Has chickens & may have ducks by now.  Nice pool if you ever wanna stop by his place.

BantyChooks - hides a criminal empire of ducknapping behind her quick wit.  If she shows up at your place wearing a big hat, don't leave her unattended.

I better post this as part 1.  Electricity just flickered.

:bow :bow :bow :bow

Well, my cousin, who lives where I currently rent land from my parents to keep my birds on, just texted me saying that "they" (meaning her and her new boyfriend, I'm assuming) want to raise a turkey and some hens for eggs, and wanting to know if I will help get her set up.

I don't see this going well for several reasons. For one, she hasn't even asked my parents' permission to put up a coop. Of course I could walk them through building it, but they need permission to put it up before they can just go building stuff on the land willy nilly.

For two, I'm kind of suspicious she thought she might just be able to toss them into my coop with my birds. Um, no. For one we'd never be able to tell whose eggs were whose. For two, that would be giving her daughter carte blanche to go into my coop all the time, and I've had enough trouble with her going in there when she's not even supposed to.

For three, she might think that she can free range them. Nope. My birds were there first, my birds free range. Hers don't, if she gets them.

And four, I'm sure every little problem that comes up they'll be running to me, asking me for help, maybe asking me to take care of their birds while I'm doing mine, maybe worm them when I worm mine, etc.

Last but not least, five, when she was living with her husband still down the road from me, she never wanted chickens, even though it was perfectly legal for her to do so. They entertained it once after I got her husband to care for my birds while I was away for a week in exchange for all the eggs they laid, but then he decided he didn't want to do it and she was fine with that too. So I have a feeling this is her new boyfriend's idea. And they've only been dating a couple months. What happens if they break up? Oops I really don't want these chickens and this turkey, will you take them please?

Wish me luck because this is going to be interesting.

Good luck!! :fl :fl

I'm so sorry :hugs Did you speak to the neighbor about it or are you just going to leave it at the dog disappearing?

Waiting for the rain to let up, then will let him know... he's gotta dispose of the aftermath...

He'll be fine with it, they love our ducks and already told us if something like that happened if I didn't then he would... so... yeah... still sucks...

it's good that he'll be fine with it but what gets me about that attitude is that it never should have had a chance to happen. Think your dog will kill your neighbor's animals? Then your dog doesn't ever get to run loose and get the chance. Easy. I can't help but think that owners like that must not care much for their dogs, if they know there's a good chance they'll be shot and killed and let them out to roam anyway. Even if they think they took some steps to prevent it but the dog still gets out and does it, then they weren't trying very hard to keep their dog contained.

I hope you find your missing one in good health :hugs
