Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Way too late to hatch more this year.  I will plan on a March hatch though.

Now that the incubator is shut down, our electric bills went way down.  That means I have to insulate it before next season.

So I've probably missed any updates. How have the chicks from my birds turn out?

A singleton Call hatch and our 1st Duckwing lf Araucana!

And my patient for the night... she tore a nail clear off, poor girl... never handled her much, but she is glued to me now, lol...

:thumbsup
I see white earlobes, yellow legs and lanky body type... looks like a Leghorn to me!!

And the Araucana is muffed/bearded, willow legs, think that looks like a pea comb and she is rumpless... I think those are acceptable for UK standards...

Nice birds!!! :highfive:

That's reassuring to know, Rav. Buying them unseen was a risk and I half expected to be cheated :)

Good looking birds. Crappy pics :gig

Just teasing you. Congrats! How old are they?

Thanks, WV. I was told the aurucana is 8 months n the roo 1 year. Am hoping that crossing them will give me coloured eggs, but better laying girls. Ditto with the rest of my flock (in terms of laying). If this aurucana lays in soon, I have a broody waiting in the wings to incubate :). In an ideal world I would have kept the roo out of the equation so I would have more aurucanas, but I only have one grown out pen, so they are together. But got me an incubator, so I can always get eggs some time soon ;)

You did good... he's a looker for sure... can't wait to see her eggs... if she is carrying 2 blue egg genes, then she'll pass one on to every one of her offspring...

Cool stuff, so it's a waiting game to see about the genes. I'm not good at waiting :rant
