Two days ago, this little one was knocking on death's door. Today, after some tube feeding and TLC, she felt good enough to jump out of her box and climb up onto me for some company.

She's so pretty!

I have a Lexi too! My grey girl.
Mine chase each other all around, and I've noticed a few that have favorite buddies, but they all seem to pick on each other equally. Initially a couple of the boys were really mean to one boy in particular, but he finally stood up for himself and pushes back.

Good morning Pondies!

I was supposed to fire someone here yesterday. Then the HR gal decided she'd better confirm with the VP of HR who happened to be traveling. Never heard back yesterday so who know what's gonna happen. Now my boss is saying VP may decide we need to do more documenting before I can fire the guy. I hate this kind of corporate BS.

Good morning all...Set my alarm wrong and ended up having to take Hadlee to school after all...Oh well, we got to sleep an hour longer and she said she was glad I could walk her to class again.

I have, sometimes a bit larger, even; in WI. Doesn't make a lick of sense to me, though, since the growing season is a lot shorter there than here.

I think that smoke would just kill my lungs.....

Yeah, we are up in the very top of the valley that extends all the way from Bakersfield to us. So, all kinds of smoke and heat get trapped here. Thankfully this year hasn't been too terrible, a little haze - no worse than big city air quality - but one year (2008) it seemed like everything was on fire and the smoke was so thick it made it hard to see. We were training for some crazy long run and I had to do most of it indoors, on a treadmill. Fun times.

It was bad here last year. The smoke gets trapped so to speak in the valley, when it started clearing it came up over our mountain and settled for days in our little bowl. Was glad when it finally stopped.

Whew, okay good. I'm a loooooong way from 13! Thanks, I'll sure be glad when it's over.

I must have just been fishing in the wrong spots. Of course, I was mainly going for catfish and bass. Now I'm craving fresh fish.

Speaking of teenagers...yesterday,when I found the spoon and yogurt cup jammed into the top of one of my chicken runs, I was actually quite happy. You see, up to this point, I was pretty sure my daughter was the only one who did lazy things like that - but this was from our "super responsible" teenaged house sitters who cleaned my kitchen like pros! Whew. Darn that unattached prefrontal cortex.
