My sons have been pretty easy - the daughter... when she was a sophomore I quit my job, pulled her out of school, and radically changed the way I was raising her. (Kind of late, I know - I just really thought I could get by doing what I did for the boys.) It was one of the hardest,best things I've ever done. And hey, we started raising chickens together! Chickens, once again, for the win!

I live in a private dead end road.....a mile from the one house town of Little lake.... Yeah no ones coming here.

We're too far off the beaten path too for trick or treaters...And our have out grown it. Sometimes Charity goes with some friends of our but mostly juts to hang out with friends.

Out here where we are, the only light comes from houses, & some of them are far apart & a long way off the road, although there are a couple developments further east.

Yeah it's real dark here.... Not many lights for miles...... The Stars sure look great though

Wonder how many of them have ever played dodge ball or kickball, or played on a jungle gym.

Beans aren't difficult, I do the long,keep an eye on em way cause I'm here all day. Do em like K, soak em(overnight if it's easier time wise) rinse em, throw em in a crock pot, add your hocks cook four or five hours salt n pepper to taste! You got this!

I think soaking is the way to go....

Exactly. I think you'd have to gather up a dozen millenials (not our kids, of course) to have enough life skills to match one of the generation born the first half of the 20th century at the same age.



Phil, being remote is definitely hard on teens. I had no issues, I took a job on a neighboring farm.

Not many farms here.... But my boys both worked in Marquette.... First for Shopko as night shift stockers.... Then at Menards.... My daughter didn't start till later....I didn't mind as it was easier with just her home.... But she's works at the Hardee's in Marquette since she started college.... She lives in Marquette.
But with the rules she can only work 28 hours a week..... When gas was higher it didn't even pay to drive back and forth with her Jeep.
I love Jeep Cherokees. I've own a bunch of them...I think they are the best vehicles ever built...... But they weren't know for good gas mileage.
