Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Well, today was more eventful than I thought it would be.

Firstly, update on the chicks and Idiot Boyfriend. I don't think I posted this in here, but in his infinite wisdom he had been leaving the three week old chicks out on the back deck in their brooder, which was a storage tub, with no heat and no lid. I had been planning to just snatch them back and make it look like they disappeared, but before I could they were gone - I figured they gave them away (without clearing it with me). But what happened is that they ACTUALLY disappeared. Gee, what a shock that two tiny chicks in an unprotected brooder with no lid that they could fly out of could disappear. He says he just assumed they had gone out to join the flock. Yeah, three week chicks with no mother. Spoiler alert, they didn't.

Anyway, my father finally had that talk with him and laid down the law. And during this my cousin sprung it on him that they decided to get a fourth dog, because that's what they needed was a fourth dog. An eight week old puppy. Without asking or clearing it with the landlord.

She said she 'rescued' it from a guy who had something like 50 puppies. To me this means she bought it from a guy running a puppy mill, thus giving him money and encouraging him to continue. Instead of doing something like calling animal control and reporting him.

Then, I found a broody cemani on a nest on eggs that were supposed to be for Orrpeople :barnie She's got her own space now and I'll let her sit, but those weren't for her, darn it!

And one of my Call drakes has a limp. I checked it out, no wounds, no signs of bumble, no heat or swelling in the leg, so hopefully it heals right up. I'll be keeping an eye on it. Also, he needs a name. Something sweet, since that seems to be the theme for my Calls.

Oh, for the love of duck!!! :he :he :barnie :th

Oh, yeah... No, she's a morron....And a Maran..:lau

Marans :p Always has the 's'. You probably also gave her paroxysms with "americauna", lol.

Ditto that!

Wow you have had a day....:hugs
I'm bad with names so I'll sit this one out...;)

Thanks :hugs I feel bad for those poor chicks. I need to find a way to tactfully text my cousin and tell her that they did not just rejoin the flock.

It's her boyfriend who had the chicks? I'm afraid the tact would be gone with me. Oh, wait... I don't have much to begin with. I'd probably say something to the effect of, "The chicks your boyfriend stole from me did not rejoin the flock. Something killed them during the night. This is what happens when they're not properly cared for."

And an added, hopefully the bodies are laying somewhere you'll discover the hard way...

Wish I could, but I don't want to start drama with her. I think she's just going along for the ride here. Doesn't excuse her letting him get away with the behavior, but it's not her doing it, she's just letting it slide. It was probably his idea to get the new dog, too. She was never a big animal person. The reason they told my dad they got the puppy is because one of HIS dogs is getting old and might die soon. He just couldn't have less than three dogs, apparently.

She's also my hairdresser and I see her regularly, so I would like to try to keep things cordial between us. Her boyfriend though, he can go take a long walk off a short pier.

Me too. They are now selling all their parakeets, because apparently animals are something he feels you can get on whim and then get rid of when you decide they're not fun anymore. Yet he is a huge animal lover.

Ugh, I'm gonna need to try to let it go for my sanity.
