Good morning, Pond Flockers. I'm waxing my lily pad this morning - then going to buff it with my butt. Trying to attract some company to the empty pad next to me.
I considered whether I should be offended by that label... but couldn't get my tongue outta my cheek long enough...
Just don't wax the pad next to you or your company may end up in your lap!
He was probably paranoid you'd leave the cart in the parking lot and was scared his car would get dinged...
Beside, if he was incapable of helping, courtesy would be to say that and not stand there staring...
Interesting... I have had chickenpox, but oddly enough I have never had a cold sore in my life... another symptom of a common herpes virus...
I hope thinking about everyone countsSpeaking of pregnant.... my baby boy and his wife are at the hospital.... the waiting game has begun!! For those so inclined, please say a prayer yall!!![]()
Yay for seeing yer new grandbaby very soon.![]()
I hope thinking about everyone countswe looking forward to the coronation of “Nonna Nat”

That's awful...I was told by my pediatrician when my daughter was a baby that the cold sore/ herpes virus is the exact same thing and that it can actually transfer to any nerve in your body once you have it. So I don't remember ever having a cold sore in my life. . but somehow my daughter got it when she was just a 3 or 4 month old baby. Because she was a baby it came out in her throat. . blisters in the throat and on the tongue of a baby still on a bottle can you imagine? It was HORRIBLE!
It did in fact transfer to another place on her body and we wound up in the er. One night being told they were going to report me to family services! By the grace of God they said they would wait until they confirmed with my pediatrician what I was telling them. They finally believed me after talking to her Dr. And let us go.
I think she got it in the nursery at the hospital.
She would also get extremely high fevers with it. This happened on and off for a few years. When she was old enough to take the chicken pox vaccine I reluctantly give it to her not knowing if it would help or hurt her. . she never broke out again after that. But the whole thing was a total nightmare!
Doing it! Dang it! That raccoon must DIE!![]()
There are a few from another thread that I've considered inviting to the Pond. Thread got heavily mod-edited the other day. lol
Remember when hubby had his surgery, and he was standing there holding my purse while I loaded 50# bags into the truck?
I kept saying loudly "No honey, you can't help, doctors orders!"
I didn't get chickenpox until I was 25, right after I went off the pill with plans of getting pregnant. They say its rough on pregnant women. I got lucky. Now I get one cold sore every so often, always in the same spot.

excellent article synopsis... I never had chicken pox but just had my shingles shot... was exposed as a child...Okay, short Marek's analogy for ya'll. (I recently read an article about how Marek's in chickens is helping unlock some of the issues with chickenpox, so here you go.)
Chickenpox is a herpes virus found in every human population. It is most contagious the day or two before a breakout, and in breakout form; although it can be transferred by any contact with bodily fluids.
Here's the tricky part. Not all people who are exposed will have a significant breakout, (although, thankfully with chickenpox, it has external, visible symptoms, so even a tiny breakout is noticeable) and some will have such a significant breakout that they suffer debilitating results. The ending result in either case is that regardless of the severity of the breakout, almost every human being - at some point in their lives- is a carrier for the virus.
Now, the even trickier part.
Person A never contracted the pox as a child, in fact, they were exposed multiple times throughout young adulthood as well, with no adverse effects. Resistant? Quite possibility. At age 39, however, immunity luck runs out and such a severe case ensues that hospitalization is required.
Person B - same scenario - develops shingles at age 64. Not resistant either.
Person C - same scenario. Dies at the ripe old age of 98, never having the dreaded disease. Resistant? A post mortem genetics test is possible - which may reveal some interesting scientific data. But true resistance can only be determined once the subject dies without having contracted the virus. eta: or without having had a breakout...the virus will probably still be found in their system.
And btw, here's the article to which I referred. The caption under the picture made me do a double-take.
