I think so too. Sometimes I think people genuinely feel that returning to "normalcy" will heal wounds, unfortunately, no matter how well intended, it usually doesn't.Yes, @LittleLakePhil , thank you for your service!! Happy Veterans Day!!
I heard something interesting on the radio this morning, and it got me thinking. Basically, a psychologist was saying that when soldiers used to return from active duty, they had weeks on a boat to talk about stuff - decompress - whatever. Now, they fly home and two hours time are expected to be flipping pancakes with the family, like nothing happened. They're wondering if this might be one of the big causes for the uptick in ptsd. We have a good friend whose son just returned from a tour in Syria - he went from people wanting to kill him around every corner to "Now you're home for a while, go clean your room and run to the store for me..."
Kind of makes sense...
