Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Not on a regular basis. Nutradrench every now and then. Purina Layena crumbles, and they free range everyday for a few hours.

You got a TSC, right? Go look in the horse supplement section for Magic Cell... it's generic version of Red Cell... I mix about a 1/4 c in anywhere from 10 to 16 gallons once a week into their water... good stuff...

Mrs. Oz assisted two pips today. One DIS, no goo, had pipped over 24 hours ago. Next assist pipped big this morning, looked strong then fizzled. No goo, almost dry. It's living but looks weak. 1 for eight with Silkies so far.
These were Silkies that were incubated with EEs. All but one EE hatched quick and easy.
Thoughts?

Your conditions were just better for the EEs. Simple as that. Silkies seem harder for most people to hatch with anything else, but mine have always been pretty easy.

Oh, and mutts always, always hatch easier and better than pures...

I've had quite the opposite. Of all the mutts I've tried to hatch, I think I've gotten 2. Even broody comet only hatched 5 of 20.

Weird... I just stick the Silkie eggs under a broody, they hatch best that way...

:weee I'll bring the keg! :D

Sweet!! Bonfire and BBQ!!! :highfive:

Ok, is it different than Nutradrench? Have we had this discussion before? Deja vu?

Yes it is... had this convo with SC... Nutridrench can be given to chicks, Magic/Red Cell must never be given to chicks... has Iron in it... it is water soluble so is ok for adults but don't want to give it to littles... and it's much cheaper than Nutri...

I just got great news! My son-in-law isn't getting deployed with the National Guard after all. So he can be home with our daughter when they have our first grandchild !

Hello everyone! Started dozing when I was reading posts that I missed. LOL...yeah, I'm old.

Yup, conditions were better for the EEs. I know Amy and Ruby incubate their silkies at a higher humidy, like 45% and watch the air cells, while EEs, especially green or dark eggs need a lower humidity to hatch well. I don't even like to put my off-white (Orloff) eggs in with my mixes because of the porosity difference. For some people it doesn't matter though,

Next time incubate a batch of silkies alone and mark the air cells. Might help.

Our neighbors got served their walking papers Friday!!! Out by Aug 12th!!!!
