I guess I'll go give that sleep thing another try....
It happened when she was about three weeks old. Slipped tendon. I don't know if it was an injury or just happened. She doesn't drag it but I'm thinking the amputation and loss of the counter weight would help her balance and mobility. Or, is it worth the trauma? Mrs. Oz refused to let me put her down when she was little. She's really pretty I think . She's got very nice lacing.
Mrs. Oz did a great job trimming the other girl with the crossbeak. It's hardly noticeable now. We still had three AM pullets with no issues and one is a gorgeous black.
Got updates from Turk... house had 2ft of water in it... most birds did not survive... think it was 9 survivors, some were grow outs...![]()
I'd love to see a pic of her.
Meant to tell you I was closing up the pens the other night, doing head count, one missing. Where's Harriet?? Counted all the others, no extras, no Harriet. Searching around with a flashlight, expecting to find her body somewhere, I hear a faint coo. Followed my ears and found her roosted on a ladder up against my building. Maggie had been out that day too, and I bet my bottom dollar that Harriet was hiding from Maggie. But I got her safely back to the coop.
I dont know if she was born with her toes the way they are, since I acquired her after she was grown, but I have hatched many of her eggs and have had no toe issues in any of her offspring.
I think you should make a house chicken out of Harriet.![]()
Maybe she could ride around on your shoulder like a parrot.
