Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Detroit at night, from Windsor. I just rolled the window down in the truck and snapped this with my phone. Clouds came out cool.

Great shot. My SIL moved to the Detroit area a while ago. I'd like to see it someday.

People move to Detroit?

Just being my usual self, no need to get bent outta shape. I'm sure things are picking up there. Nothing worse than seeing a once great city, on its knees.

I think they are in a nice area just north of the city - Bloomfield Hills I think? There was a good job opening as a director of one of the medical specialties in a hospital, at a salary they couldn't turn down. (He's a doctor) They want to live there for 5 years and then retire.

Wouldn't have been my first choice of places to move, but then again, everyone thought we were crazy to move to New Mexico.

Same could be said for me

Either way, the more wealth that is brought into the city, the better its chances of regeneration. My city of origin had its economy based on coal - thats gone (went 25 years ago) and its never recovered - very sad. I'm sure there are many places that suffer the same way. Maybe its an inevitability - dunno.

Detroit is really coming alive. It has its bad parts just like any other major city but my heart belongs there. Birmigham, Bloomfield, Grosse pointe, all gorgeous cities that I can't afford to live in as a lowly nurse but I want to be in the country with my birds anyway
