Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Good... tendon should be directly behind the heel and straight up the back of the leg, if it's shifted over, that needs to be popped back into place, ok?

Try this... tickle the bottom of her foot... or pinch/prick it a bit... see if she has a response to that... if she does, jerks or makes a noise, then she has feeling... it *could be* cold cuz she is keeping it still...

Swelling in her neck isn't blocking her breathing, correct? Punctures, watch those close for infection... are any around her head area? Esophagus or trachea? Near the spine?

Yes, it's in place then.

Okay. I was flexing her toes to make sure there were no breaks, and she didn't react... :/

Not that I can tell. She's breathing okay.
If you look at the pics, the bloody spot on her head is where the punctures are. Swelling is an inch below that. No others that I could find...

I'll be watching very carefully.

:hugs  Very sorry for your loss Banti .   Some times no matter what you do things go wrong . Sometimes hard to take and very hard get over . But we get over it or get used to them. Hope your duck heals . I would have loved to see you in the revenge mode though . I'm sure it was exciting :thumbsup  They run in pairs so keep your guard up .

:hugs Thank you. I'm hopeful... I've seen worse surface injuries, but puncture wounds are new.

Try a mental image of an incensed person with claw marks down their face (from a guinea, no worries, I wasn't stoopid enough to grab the martin barehanded) pouring steaming water down the side of a pallet while muttering "It must DIE."

Will do. I don't think I'll be sleeping for a while...

Wish Me luck..... Headed to bed..... Good night.... I'll try and get on more.... Just been so darn busy.... And the pipes all thawed today.....

A tickle or prick is different than flexing toes... kinda like the rubber hammer to the underside of your kneecap, causes involuntary reflex action... that's what you need to see if she has...

Hard for me to see clear on my phone, are any of the punctures in her skull or just flesh? If skull, do not bind them up... leave them to drain and to be able to check for infection... punture wounds are the most susceptible to infection... watch for hot spots too... feel her body temp, it runs hotter than yours so get a feel for it now so you can tell if her skin gets fevered...

Sorry, Banti but i hope that you manage to sort out your duck.

As for getting a bit crazy with the martin - I took great pleasure in killing the mongooses that took my chicks by pouring boiling water over them (I wouldn't normally derive any satisfaction from killing any animal in such a manner) but that's the way it goes when they mess with my birds

Okay, thanks.

Can't tell. I think it's just flesh? It doesn't look too deep, it looks like the martin was somehow interrupted in the middle. Sure not by me, as I was late letting them out this morning....

At least you were there when the dog got mine I was working . Puncture wounds depending on how deep and the angle of the wound can be hard to care for . Its very important to clean them out good from he beginning . Syringe and big needle very light pressure slow irrigation of the puncture . Or an empty saline nasal spray bottle is good for flushing out puncture wounds .
