Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Sorry, Banti but i hope that you manage to sort out your duck.

As for getting a bit crazy with the martin - I took great pleasure in killing the mongooses that took my chicks by pouring boiling water over them (I wouldn't normally derive any satisfaction from killing any animal in such a manner) but that's the way it goes when they mess with my birds

Yup. I nearly skinned it and fed it to the chooks, but I didn't feel like putting something so vile in my pressure cooker

Also, keep her warm, dry and in a darkened box/carrier... something to confine her but not too much...

Don't push food on her for a while, offer it and let it go if she refuses... shock can last a while... as long as she keeps drinking she should be ok...

Did that. :thumbsup

Okay. Yes, she was clearly in shock... She didn't complain when I picked her up, like she usually does.

She has pooped a few times, all normal. :fl

At least you were there when the dog got mine I was working .  Puncture wounds depending on how deep and the angle of the wound can be hard to care for . Its very important to clean them out good from he beginning . Syringe and big needle very light  pressure slow irrigation of the puncture . Or an empty saline nasal spray bottle is good for flushing out puncture wounds .

Thanks. I have more saline solution packets, so I'll mix up another.... Don't have betadine. :/

Good... let her rest... but talk to her lots...

That will do, just keep your eyes open for heat, inflammation or pus...

Okay. There's some feathers that are dried onto her head, should I try again to get them off?

The blood was already mostly dry when I found her... I rinsed all I could off, but some of it just wouldn't budge.

X2 what she said .

Use gauze, not cotton batting... folded up thick and soaked with nice warm water... hold that on there til it softens up enough to move/remove all bits from her wound... any skin that can be nudged back into place afterwards, do that...

Thank you. Sounds a lot better than what I was told to do last time, which was pluck the feathers away gently.... I didn't get how that would not tear the loose skin off.
