Course Renaults - forgot about them. Subarus were never popular in the UK years ago - I do like 'em. My last two cars have been subaru.  

When you get a good Subaru, it's a GOOD car... but if not, then it's a friggin nightmare, lol...

Subarus will run forever.... But the old ones the body would rust away around you.... At one time I had a whole chicken coop filled with nothing but old Subaru drivetrains. They stack nice and neat with their pancake design

That sounds fun! I had a '74 Subaru DL and it had a great drivetrain (once I replaced the head gaskets and bent valves) but the body was, as you said, rusting out from under it. Inner fenderwells, where they put the fuse box, rusted right through so I had my fuse box wrapped in plastic bags, pallet wrap and duct tape.
