Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Without NPIP I won't ship outside the state...and with the flock I have now I will not pursue NPIP. Michigan raised the registration fee to $300 this year (it's run by Michigan Allied Poultry Industry, and designed to inhibit hobbyists). And then there is the per bird test fee.
It's hard to make that up in eggs.

Ah. Bummer.

We're still fairly cool, but above freezing.  I finally unplugged all my heated waterers.  Dang power bills are gonna send me to the poor house.

I pulled my 2 weeks olds off heat last night and turned heat down drastically on the 1 week olds... we went from freezing to frying once again... :/

Oh, chit... I think I'm supposed to lockdown some chocolate today...

Now that is insane costs... I thought Cali's was high, think theirs runs about $100 or so... heck, the only thing I have seen with costs that high is for APA certified heritage flock... :/

Michigan is against backyard flocks and hobbyists. It's either stay under the radar or pony up. If the cost was reasonable I would embrace the program and testing.

:love    :love      Wow, I need to see a Call in person.  So different from my ducks.  My biggest, Donald, is about 14 pounds (224 oz).

Need a webby shot and then tag Julie Bird.  Sending her into orbit is fun!

I have a direct line to JB, I personally send her into orbit on a regular basis, lol... :D ;)

I think I have a pic that should give you some perspective...

400

In one hand, fully grown adult Call duck... I think she's same weight as the previous pic... :)
